Heat and hot water problem finally being solved - we hope
After many years of complaining tenants have finally convinced the housing authority that there’s not enough heat and hot water. Last week at a meeting arranged by the Riverview Tenant council, Joe Berte the maintenance superintendent told a group of tenants that the housing authority was getting more hot water heaters. This will help the blunder make more hot water for the heating system. Some of the new leaders were put in this week and the rest will be finished soon. Mr. Berte said that this shouldn’t solve the problem.
Citywide tenant organization getting ready to finish a new lease
The CWTO task forces are finishing their proposals for a new lease in grievance procedure and other housing authority policy. Next month they will approach the SHA to start negotiating with them.
Major Moynihan praises work done on a Christmas party
The security director wrote the following for the tenant paper
“I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of myself and the security committee to thank Mr. Angel Padua the security athletic coordinator and his assistant Mr. David Smith the youth recreational coordinator for a job well done on the Christmas parties. Also the Brightwood neighbourhood council and the Riverview Tenant council plus all the many tenants and friends that gave their time plus a vast assortment of gifts for the children. The two parties could be measured by the happy faces as clowns danced around the Riverview community hall. Santa’s helpers had their hands full handing out toys. At a magician kept the youngsters attention with his magic tricks.
The teenagers dance was said by many to be the best dance held for some time in the Brightwood area. Again, I say thanks to all.”
Sincerely Major Frank P. Moynihan
